review and photos by Susie for reggaelink.com

Congratulations to Supergold Promotions for another successful event! It was refreshing: real music, cool people, great vibes, neat location.
The opening acts were talented. Shark Attack, a live band from Galveston played a good set - they did original songs and fused a bit of rock and reggae together, the people were feelin' it.

Mr. Blacc Sheep: Kingpin Productions

Next up was "reggaelink-endorsed", Kingpin Productions recording artist, Mr. Blacc Sheep, a Trinidad and Tobago native. Blacc Sheep (above)immediately connected with the crowd who appreciated his conscious lyrics over the "ragga-fusion" beats, and he continued to treat the crowd with some gyal tunes on the latest riddims. Blacc Sheep is definitely "one to watch"!

Jaro, (below) another "reggaelink-endorsed", "one to watch", took the stage, and pulled off what a lot of entertainers cannot: he sang a cappella, not by choice but by circumstance because the sound was messed up. Nonetheless, this did not affect his performance in a bad way at all. Jaro held the crowd and articulately sang a few of his original songs with messages of unity and living in these hard times. Jaro's performance was engaging and the audience approved with loud applause.

Next to the stage was the legendary band, Culture. Culture's music is devoted almost exclusively to spiritual, social, and political messages, delivered by Rastafarian militants. Few know that their original band name was African Disciples. It was refreshing to watch reggae veterans in action. Their musical performance is a testament as to why they're living legends. They treated the crowd to a great concert, no rush no fuss...

Supergold and Susie

Big up to Supergold for keeping the reggae vibes alive in Houston and for making this all possible. Look out for more big events coming up from reggaelink.com and Supergold promotions later this year!
