First things first, 2 of the 3 sounds were not there, so to much of the patrons dismay, this highly anticipated clash did not take place. The trophy was there waiting to go home with the champion sound but it will have to wait til January 25, 2003, the replacement date.. Dance promoters Jah Wise and Nyam Cash told reggaelink.com that the airline tickets were paid for, but upon arrival, the flight was overbooked and Mighty Crown/Rebel Tone were denied boarding, even though their records were already checked. So, we'll see what happens if they keep this clash in Jan....

Sugarnotch's John Paul warmed up the crowd as they poured in...the crowd was definitely there, a diverse crowd at that, and the vibes were nice. Promoter Jah Wise announced the shituation, patrons were disappointed, but since they already paid their money, might as well hang for a few and check out Black Kat. I'm surprised the crowd didnt react more than just disappointed looks on their faces, about there being no clash. Black Kat hyped up the place featuring many dubplates of new tunes on foundation riddims..the crowd definitely liked the new flavor and they played very well. Supergold played next and wanted war w/Panther of Black Kat, he played his war dubplates and really thought he'd be clashing against Black Kat... then Black Kat got on the mic and told the crowd that they'd give us the mad mix...Supergold/Black Kat jugglin....each playing one tune each, ok, cool...just juggle and get mad right? we like that........well, that did not happen. the showtime dubs went on..... and on.... and on........., it felt like every single artist in the world did a dub on the showtime, it was getting boring, then after they finally ran out of showtime they played dubs on the diwali....the shit was boring....it felt like forever..........meanwhile, Sugarnotch was preparing to play next... Black Kat was packing up, and the crowd was walking out the door, with Black Kat and reggaelink.com right behind them.

Nuff Respect to Supergold for coming to play at the last minute.. and he does have some heavy dubs, but since there wasnt' going to be a clash, they should have just gave us the party vibes..There was an overkill of dubs and not even a 45 of the latest riddims were touched. Bottom line..the dance was wack. People, let your voice be heard on the dancehall board...tell the sounds/promoters what you want to hear, how you like to party, and will you go to the Jan 25th clash? speak up!
