On December 6, 2003. Nyam Cash Promotions
hosted the Houston Dancehall Queen
contest. Music was provided by Supa Twitch
(NYC), Mikey Faith (HOUSTON), and
Mighty Crown
(JAPAN). The music was nice, and the dance competition started
late into the nite and went into the early morning. At the end of the
evening, Keida, Houston's reigning dancehall queen had to give it up to
Noeleene of TATA's dance crew. Reggaelink
had a short chat with the dancehall queen and she isn't just a good dancer,
this girl's got brains too. Gwwaaaaannn Noeleene!
Q: Where are you from?
A: Born in St Mary, Jamaica, grew up in Irvington,
New Jersey
Q: How old are you?
A: 23
Q: Do you have a man? ;)
A: yes i do
Q: How long have you been dancing?
A: i think i was born dancing
Q: Did you ever take lessons?
A: never took lessons, if you're a Jamaican you
shouldn't have to take lessons
Q: How you do keep up with the latest dances?
A: if you party you will always know the latest
dances
Q: Who are your dancing influences?
A: i really don't have one. i just like to dance
and love the reggae music
Q: How did the TATA girls dance crew begin and when?
A: well i knew one of the girls since high school,
the other i met at at TSU. we all loved the music and to party, so we
started going out together. we met Tata at reception hall, him being the
video man notice that we could really dance and it went from there.
Q: What's your favorite Jamaican dish?
A: stew chicken and rice
Q: What was the last movie you saw?
A: My Babies Daddy
Q: Where do you see yourself in 5 years?
A: working with a fortune 500 company in the field
that i'm pursuing right now which is Electronic engineering.
Q: I heard there was some tension during the competition, what are your
views on that?
A: it was no big deal it was a competetion and i
have fun. keida felt as though i disrespected her so i apologized being
the person i am. I am not a punk, it's just that small things and people
nuh matta mi.
Q: Who do you want to big up?
A: big up tata girls, tata african imports and club
riddims. long time
