Black Kat took the trophy back to Jamaica. This clash was billed as the International Dancehall Warlords 2K3 between Black Kat from Jamaica, and Mighty Crown from Japan. Sugarnotch did a nice set in the early warm juggling. Mikie Faith from the Mikie Faith Crew was the emcee.

In the first round, the rules for the set were that each sound plays for 30 minutes. There was a coin flip and Black Kat was able to play first. He started out with a nice rinse of some newer tunes on a nice nice riddim from yesteryear. The crowd was receptive but, In my opinion, I thought it got a little stale midway through his set. I got the feeling that Mighty Crown could win this round easy. Black Kat did not do bad, but I was expecting a little more from him. Next up was Mighty Crown. The very feeling that I had, came to fruition. Mighty Crown killed Black Kat in this set. From the very first tune I knew it was Mighty Crown's round to lose.

The second round rules were 15 minutes for each sound. In the second round, Black Kat held a better vibe than he did from the first round. He played some tunes that received quite a few forwards and big ups from the massive. Mighty Crown had called out Black Kat for his to them, rather lack luster first round, so he made sure that he brought the fire for this round. But when Mighty Crown went into there second set, I felt that it was getting serious now. From my point of view, Mighty Crown, won the second round by a hair. I was ready for the round of tune fi tune. At this point, Mighty Crown had the edge.

Now was the time for the champion to rise. Black Kat must have been saving his best for last because he flattened the dance with this set. There was a little bit of juggling by the two sounds and then it went straight in to the one for one or the tune fi tune. Black Kat dropped some plates that caused the massive to almost faint. Chairs flew, lighters in the air, rudebwoy wit dem hand in a di air, it was a wicked set. At first it was sticky for Black Kat with the performance of Mighty Crown from the first two rounds. But after the beginning of his set in this final stage of the clash, it was starting to look sticky for Mighty Crown. And Mighty Crown is my sound. So I was worried, scared, uneasy, and just wanted to see Mighty Crown survive. Mighty Crown held there own even though Black Kat took the wind out of there sails. But when it came to the tune fi tune, Mighty Crown couldn't quite compete. Black Kat flattened the massive in the tune fi tune with a little God bless music and a little foundation. Mighty Crown had the same format, but to no avail. Even with my biased opinion, I knew that my favorite international sound Mighty Crown, took second place. This was the night of the Black Kat.

Respect to Bronco, Jah Wise, and the whole Nyam Cash crew for this event. X amount of respect to the massive for their support and for a nice showing at this event. God bless the whole of the Houston reggae massive. -- robnemar View Pictures..Say Your Piece
